Abstract
A new specimen of the common coleoid Plesioteuthis
prisca was discovered in the Nusplingen Lithographic
Limestone (Late Jurassic, Late Kimmeridgian, Beckeri
Zone, Ulmense Subzone; SW Germany). Although
heavily deformed remains of the beaks as well as isolated
beaks which had been tentatively assigned to this taxon
have already been described, this specimen is the first
which allows linking a specific form of upper beak to this
coleoid species which was largely based on the gladius.
As documented for other coleoids from Nusplingen
before, this specimen most likely represents remains of a
specimen some predator or scavenger had fed on.
