Individualisierte Radiotherapie des Pleuramesothelioms

Roesch, J; Guckenberger, M; Riesterer, O (2015). Individualisierte Radiotherapie des Pleuramesothelioms. Schweizer Zeitschrift für Onkologie, (4):24-30.

Abstract

Malignant pleural mesothelioma is a rare disease with a poor prognosis. Trimodal therapy including extrapleural pneumonectomy has long been considered to be the most promising treatment concept. Based on the results of recent clinical studies the treatment strategy is now shifting towards less radical surgical procedures like pleurectomy/decortication and less extensive radiotherapy. Based on its capability to improve local control and its recent technical achievements radiotherapy is a valuable non-invasive treatment option in the primary and especially in the oligo-recurrent and palliative setting.
