Patristic Tradition and Intellectual Paradigms in the 17th Century

Patristic Tradition and Intellectual Paradigms in the 17th Century. Edited by: Bergjan, Silke-Petra; Pollmann, Karla (2010). Tübingen: Mohr Siebeck.

Abstract

Using selected paradigms (comparative literture, encyclopediae, biblical hermeneutics, interdebominational conflict, philology, philosophical argumentation), the articles in this volume do not stop at a quantitative evaluation of patristic quotations in the 17th century but also focus on the ways in which an altered understanding of patristic texts was linked to th changed conditions under which they were read.
