Aen. VI. In: Bukovec, Predrag; Kolkmann-Klamt, Barbara. Jenseitsvorstellungen im Orient. Hamburg: Kovac, 217-243.

Abstract

In recent years, classical scholars have investigated different concepts of intertextuality. This paper will focus on the rather blurred category of influence with regard to Seneca’s Epistulae Morales 84. The problematic category of influence will be discussed based on a comparison of the sixth book of Vergil’s Aeneis and the Jewish Book of the Watchers. A thorough analysis of the narrative modes in both texts will show that their relation in the shape of influence cannot be uphold any longer.
