Abstract

Oxidation of 1,3-thiazole-5(4H)-thiones with meta-chloroperbenzoic acid (mPCBA) in ether at 0 °C leads to the corresponding thionoxides (sulfides) in very good yield. The structure has been established by X-ray crystallography.
