Abstract

The book presents a history of modern and contemporary German literature, from the Baroque period (17th century) to present times. The book comprises articles on writers and poets, as well as theoretical essays about various literary genres and their evolutions; it expounds on cultural and social historical d foundations which served as a background to the evolution of a national literature and can explain its specifics. It also analyses the interaction and dialogue of various literary epochs within German literature.
