AIMS: We tested whether delayed pharmacologic preconditioning elicited by isoflurane is protective in infarct-remodelled hearts. METHODS AND RESULTS: Male Wistar rats were treated with the preconditioning drug isoflurane 6 weeks after permanent ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery.
