Today's dental reconstructive therapeutic concepts require restoration of high esthetic quality and excellent biocompatibility. Full ceramic reconstructions accomplish these requirements but only for anterior teeth and premolars. For all-ceramic bridges the mechanical strength was insufficient to withstand the posterior chewing forces.
