Abstract
This paper focuses on the Saxons and their presence as an endemic evil among the characters of Arthurian prose romances in the Vulgate Merlin Continuation which draws on the chronicles as well as on previous parts of the Vulgate-Cycle. Cross-referencing indexes of proper names allows us to see differences regarding the Saxons in the alpha and beta versions of the Suite. However, the study also shows the limitations of our working tools, which do not always reflect the reality of the manuscripts.
