Residential preferences are often treated as exogenous and fixed. Challenging this assumption, this article elaborates how residential preferences are shaped by experienced neighbourhood conditions. In doing so, we acknowledge the mutual dependence of the neighbourhood context, residential preferences, and segregation patterns.
