Abstract
The paper investigates Russian negative mirative constructions of the type vzjat’ i/da i/ da ne sdelat’ from their first attestation in the Russian national corpus until today. The introduction of a negated second verb is interpreted as a further stage of the grammaticalization of the mirative construction type. The paper focuses on the impact of negation, discusses both the most frequent and non-canonical subjects and second verbs, and is rounded up with contextually bound pragmatic effects.
