Road noise presents an ever-growing urban challenge, with associated health risks such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. In Zurich, approximately 125,000 residents—28% of the population—are exposed to noise levels that exceed regulatory thresholds. To address this issue, the city council introduced the Road Noise Mitigation Plan (RNMP), which aims to implement speed limits of 30 km/h on designated roads to reduce noise levels throughout the city.
