Abstract
What part can a boulder lay in the context of the greatest threat to humanity in the 21st century: anthropogenic climate change? This paper will attempt - using Michael Heizer`s relocation of boulders in 1969 and 2012 as well as a simulation of a boulder by Stefan Sous in front of the new BND building in Berlin - to analyse how boulders become policy. What does it mean for the image of nature when both a museum and an institution geared towards invisibility and secrecy, like the Federal Information Bureau use art to stage themselves as deserts?
