Bogdan, Stefan; Refaat, Marwan; Chudzik, Michal; Balsam, Pawel; Kosiuk, Jedrzej; Conte, Giulio; Vernooy, Kevin; Kutyifa, Valentina (2019). Career building in countries with electrophysiology underdevelopment: roadblocks and solutions-an EHRA Young EP Report. Europace, 21(6):978-980.

Abstract

Interventional electrophysiology (EP) has become the standard of care for arrhythmia management according to current guidelines.1,2 Becoming a heart rhythm specialist can be very challenging in light of a difficult EP curriculum and even more so in the absence of a structured training programme (Table 1).3 The 2017 European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) report on the use of EP procedures has shown that in the non-European and Eastern European ESC member countries, procedure rates are still quite low.4 This editorial provides a review of EP training in countries with EP underdevelopment with a focus on finding solutions for young cardiologists interested in EP careers.
