Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (intervention). The objectives are as follows:

To compare in a network meta‐analysis the efficacy and safety of different prophylactic medications either against no treatment, or placebo, or against each other (as mono‐ or combination prophylaxis) for the prevention of low cardiac output syndrome and mortality for paediatric patients undergoing surgery for congenital heart disease.

To generate a clinically useful ranking of prophylactic medications (mono‐ and combination prophylaxis) according to efficacy and safety.
