Engulfment of prions in the germinal centre.

Raeber, A J; Aguzzi, A (2000). Engulfment of prions in the germinal centre. Immunology Today, 21(2):66-67.

Abstract

Germinal centres have long been suspected to be involved in peripheral prion pathogenesis, but the exact cell types responsible for replication and transport of prions have remained elusive. New evidence revealed at a recent symposium* incriminates follicular dendritic cells and B cells as crucial players in prion neuroinvasion.
