Excited-state structure of copper phenanthroline-based photosensitizers

Guda, Alexander; Windisch, Johannes; Probst, Benjamin; van Bokhoven, Jeroen A; Alberto, Roger; Nachtegaal, Maarten; Chen, Lin X; Smolentsev, Grigory (2021). Excited-state structure of copper phenanthroline-based photosensitizers. Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP), 23(47):26729-26736.

Abstract

Pump–probe XAS is used to catch the excited-state of two Cu photosensitizers and 4-coordinated excited states are observed. The exciplex can be involved in the deactivation of [Cu(dmp)$_{2}$]$^{+}$ as a non-observable state that forms slower than it decays.
