Abstract

Through this paper, i aim to provide a thorough understanding of the historical and current dynamics of global monetary policy, highlighting the influential role of the US dollar and speculating on future trends and possibilities in the world of finance. Through empirical research this paper tries to answer the question what are the main factors that drive the change of the status of global reserve currency. The main findings indicate macroeconomic situation of United States, namely US public debt, US inflation, dollar index, but also share of the Chinese GDP in global economy.
