Abstract
The lyrics of ‘The Red Flag’, the anthem of the Labour Parties of the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom, start with the famous stanza: ‘The people’s flag is deepest red, it shrouded oft our martyred dead’. The history of the Swiss labour movement has its dead activists as well.
