Abstract

Learning with new media became an integral part of everyday life in higher education institutions. A lot of lecturers gain many competencies in informal learning processes for which they are not formally rewarded during their employment. The Certificate of Advanced Studies CAS E-Learning, at the University of Teacher Education Central Switzerland, Schwyz, is aimed at lecturers in the tertiary and quaternary education sector, who already have experience in the use of new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in teaching. The course focuses accurately on the individual requirements of the participants regarding goals, interests, skills, experience and resources. The thematic modules are offered virtually by renowned experts from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
