This chapter demonstrates how advisory support information systems can benefit from (Enterprise Content Management) ECM support. The first part of the chapter introduces this type of information system. In the second part, an architectural sketch is elaborated upon and it will be shown how ECM can support advisory support information systems. Requirements are formulated such as providing filters, supporting collaborative content management throughout several organizational levels, and aggregating content from different resources on an inter-organizational level to foster transparency and to adapt content items to a user’s specific role. Nevertheless, the information integration aspect, which is inherent in all advisory support information systems, can be generalized for all workplaces where information is aggregated from various sources. For this reason, the content architectural sketch may also be applicable to other settings where content must be shared and presented to different groups.
