„Archetyp der Vollkommenheit“. Die Lebenswende des Paulus nach der patristischen Lektüre von Phil 3. Ancient Perspectives im Gespräch mit der New Perspective

Abstract

Der Aufsatz beschäftigt sich mit der Rezeptionsgeschichte von Phil 3 bei zwei repräsentativen Exegeten der Alten Kirche, Johannes Chrysostomos im Osten und Augustin im Westen. Für beide fungiert Paulus als herausragendes Modell für das christliche Leben. Zugleich zeigt sich, dass Johannes in einigen Punkten der „New Perspective“ näher steht als Augustin, bei dem sich die sogenannte „Old Perspective“ herauszubilden beginnt.

The paper deals with the reception history of Phil. 3 of two representative exegetes of the Old Church, John Chrysostom in the east and Augustine in the west. Paul serves as an outstanding model for Christian life for both. At the same time it shows that John is closer in some points to the new perspective than Augustine, with whom the so-called old perspective begins to develop.
