Abstract
The paper gives a short overview of some scholars who worked on ancient philosophy in the last two centuries at Swiss universities: Friedrich Nietzsche (1846-1900) and Peter von der Mühll (1885-1970) (University of Basel); Olof Gigon (1912-1998), Andreas Graeser (1942-2014) and Gerhard Seel (*1940) (University of Bern); Margarethe Billerbeck (*1945) and Dominic J. O’Meara (*1948) (University of Fribourg); François Lasserre (1919-1989), André-Jean Voelke (1925-1991) and Ada Babette Neschke (1942-2013) (University of Lausanne); Olivier Reverdin (1913-2001), Henri Joly (1927-1989) and Jonathan Barnes (*1942) (University of Geneva); René Schaerer (1901-1995) (Université de Neuchâtel); Fritz Wehrli (1902-1987), Hans Rudolf Schwyzer (1908-1993), Walter Burkert (1931-2015), Thomas A.
