Abstract
Urethral obstruction is a rare finding in very young lambs before weaning. This report describes the occurrence of this condition in an eleven day-old orphan lamb. The early occurrence of urinary obstruction was most likely caused by mistakes in the feeding regimen since the lamb did not have free access to water and the milk replacer was used in too high a concentration. The obstruction was successfully treated by tube cystostomy. Nutritional changes were implemented and after a three-week hospitalization period the lamb was fully recovered. Urethral obstruction has not recurred to date.
