Abstract
To satisfy the demands of a growing world population, food production must be significantly increased by the year 2050. Achieving this increase in productivity requires cultivars that use fewer input resources and can withstand the extreme effects of climate change. The long-term goal of this project is to improve crops by exploring the potential of epigenetic variation for plant breeding purposes. Apart from genetically modified crops, the development of new cultivars has primarily relied on exploiting natural genetic variation throu
