Abstract
Differential Object Marking (DOM) reveals patterns influenced by properties like animateness and definiteness across languages. While DOM's emergence in Aromanian was initially linked to Dacoromanian contact, evidence shows limited overlap, as grammaticalization diverges in regions such as Ohrid/Struga despite similar external influences. Internal linguistic factors are insufficient in explaining DOM distribution; further research combining synchronic and diachronic approaches is advocated.
