Gloria Fuertes (Madrid, 1917-1998) fue una genial poeta de origen obrero e ideología progresista, que tuvo que luchar contra viento y marea para poder seguir su vocación. Fruto del obligado autodidactismo de sus inicios es el singularísimo estilo —de honda claridad expositiva y fino humor verbal— que caracteriza su poesía para adultos. La autorreferencialidad de sus poemas constituye el eje temático en torno al cual se aglutinan la mayoría de los estudios de este volumen.
